Characters:
Cole: The main character. His original name is Ezekiel, who was turned into a hemovore at the age of 18. He was chosen by Johnny to train Gordon. Cole would be the protagonist of this story and is a round character. He changes from the beginning to only having to care about himself to being able to be with others and to be a good teacher. Cole’s perseverance and pride keeps him going and motivated to successfully train Gordon.
Sandor: Cole’s best friend who is also a hemovore. He created Gordon accidently when he was in Missouri roaming the countryside. The creation of Gordon forced Sandor to take him back to The Building in New York City. Sandor would be the funny character in the book. The character who jokes around and provides a sort of “comic relief’” to the book. He is a pretty flat character. He stays pretty much the same throughout the whole book. Cole is the one that keeps him in line and motivated that they have to train Gordon right or he will never make it on his own.
· Gordon: The newly created hemovore. He had his life ripped away from him when Sandor turned him into a vampire. He has extreme trouble getting used to his new life. He has only lived in The Building since his change, so he has never had to work to get blood, his food. Still thinking like a human, he cannot seem to shake his habits and his human ways. He is becomes a more developed, round character as the story progresses and he is taught more by Cole and Sandor. He is not really a motivated person. He is just scared and obedient throughout the story except when he refuses to feed and almost kills himself because he cannot handle being a hemovore anymore.
Royal: A rogue hemovore the three meet in Ohio. He enjoys killing humans to see the light fade from their eyes. He does not pose a threat at first but when he suddenly disappears, Cole expects Royal starts to follow them. He is a flat, static character. You don’t get to know the character very well but when he poses a threat.
